Our award was for the promotion of Environmental Sustainability. Our festival events effectively channelled messages of sustainability for people to take action on climate change. It widened access to culture and explored the history of climate change in a creative way.

‘What a brilliant festival it has opened my eyes to see things more clearly about the history of climate change through seeing creative pieces of work. A brilliant way to get a message across. Festival attendee.

Manchester Histories continues to work on being an environmentally friendly charity and is part of GMAST, which brings together the cultural and creative community across Greater Manchester to address the climate and ecological crisis.

Talking about the awards, Councillor Luthfur Rahman OBEDeputy Leader of Manchester City Council said:

“The judges were blown away again this year by the sheer volume of nominations made and what this says about the energy and enthusiasm there is in Manchester for culture and the arts.”

“The calibre of all those nominated for awards is a reminder also of why Manchester is known as a place that punches well above its weight in terms of its culture and creative output.”

Manchester Histories are proud to be part of the cultural ecology of Manchester, we thank everyone who took part in making the festival a success. We are now looking forward to our next festival in 2024.
