Come and explore a new exhibition celebrating the heritage of African names in Greater Manchester and the wider North West, presented by Amani Creatives CIC
Fumbo: Names, Traditions and Meanings highlights the naming customs and cultural histories of Congolese and African diaspora communities across the region.
Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the project has built a vibrant collection of oral histories gathered by volunteers from African communities.
This growing archive strengthens the representation of diverse voices within Manchester’s historical collections and deepens understanding of the region’s rich cultural landscape.
