Manchester Histories are thrilled to announce that the Liverpool to Manchester Community Rail Partnership (CRP) has officially become a member of the Community Rail Network!

Through our support and that of the partners, this becomes a major milestone for one of the UK’s most historic rail corridors, strengthening community connections, celebrating local heritage, and promoting sustainable travel between the two cities.

What This Means

As part of the Community Rail Network, the CRP will:

  • Build stronger partnerships with communities and stations along the line

  • Develop inclusive and accessible travel initiatives

  • Support local heritage, arts, STEM, and environmental projects

  • Work towards sustainable, community-led rail development

  • Play a key role in the Rocket: All Aboard Bicentenary – celebrating 200 years of the world’s first inter-city passenger railway!

Connecting Communities

From Edge Hill to EcclesPatricroft to Padgate, and across both the Chat Moss Line and Cheshire Lines route, the CRP is all about bringing people together through the power of rail.

This achievement is only possible thanks to the incredible support of our partners, local authorities, train operating companies, community organisations, and dedicated volunteers.

Together, we’re working to create a railway that truly serves, reflects, and empowers the communities it passes through.
