Marking 40 Years Since the Miners’ Strike: Stories from the Frontlines.
This digital magazine focuses on the 1984–85 Miners’ Strike, with particular attention to the pivotal ‘Battle of Orgreave’ and the often-overlooked voices of those involved. Alongside the broader events, we highlight the lesser-known stories of miners’ wives, women activists, and the communities at the heart of the struggle—from Sunderland and Manchester to Orgreave and towns across Lancashire.
Created as an anniversary piece to mark 40 years since the strike, the magazine is aimed at young adults and students aged 18–25. While many may have heard of the strike, we aim to deepen understanding by exploring the historical, social, and political dimensions in greater detail.
The magazine features interviews with individuals connected to the strikes, as well as images of key locations and materials from the time. Its design reflects the seriousness of the topic, while our writing style remains accessible and informal—ensuring that the powerful stories and important histories resonate with a new generation.
