Ruth Cockburn & Keith Carter from Black Liver will host our day in 'On the Green' outdoor tent as well as give us a special routine as part of the Bright Club Comedy slot. Not to be missed.

Ruth is from Blackpool and Keith is from Liverpool. And thus, they became Black Liver!

Ruth Cockburn & Keith Carter from Black Liver will play host to all the stuff we are showcasing in ‘On the Green’ at Manchester Histories Celebration Day.

As heard on BBC Radio 4 and seen on BBC 1 and Sky TV and winners of BBC Audio Drama Awards 2024, Ruth & Keith will take us on a journey through the day introducing everyone with a hint of humour and fun!

Black Liver is a professional touring company; playing to sell-out audiences with their shows ‘Miss Nobodies’ and ‘Support Your Local Library! A Gothic Pub Rock Opera’, headlining on their occasional gigs for the UK comedy circuit, writing and starring in BBC Radio 4’s comedy ‘Where To Mate?’ and being commissioned to create bespoke songs, workshops, children’s stories and the first comedy festival for Blackpool. Their number of bespoke commissions range from Spot On Lancashire, The Library Project, The Literacy Trust, Head Start, Blackpool’s Art B&B and Show Town Museum.

They were nominated for Best Theatre Production at the Buxton Festival in 2022 for ‘Support Your Local Library! A Gothic Pub Rock Opera’. And Best Comedy Show in 2023 for ‘A Soirée of Black Liver’. Recently they helped Blackpool’s Grand Theatre win the Children & Young People ‘Now Award’ at this year’s Theatre Awards. Currently, they are working on their new show, ‘Devilled Eggs’ which is already taking tour bookings for 2024/25.
