Description

Beautiful illustration by English artist and illustrator, William Crane (1845 – 1915)

The modern cooperative movement was founded by the Rochdale Pioneers in 1844.  Their aim was to provide affordable and unadulterated food and provisions in an unregulated market to benefit society.  The cooperative movement, with its roots in Greater Manchester, is now a global movement and encompasses all sectors of the economy.
